    Early Life and Family

    Gage was born in Cicero, New York on March 24, 1826.

    Her childhood home served as a safe house on the Underground Railroad, providing refuge for escaped slaves. She was the daughter of Hezekiah Joslyn, a prominent abolitionist, and became the wife of Henry Hill Gage, with whom she had five children.

    Suffrage Advocacy

    Gage's dedication to women's suffrage began in 1852 when she spoke at the National Women's Rights Convention.

    She served
